It was a teenager walking across a bridge who first noticed something strange below.
Peering down, he spotted a dog lying motionless at the bottom of a ravine near a sewer.

Unable to reach her himself, he quickly called the fire department. Rain was pouring, the slope was dangerously slick, and the dog looked close to death—until she heard his voice and slowly lifted her head.
Firefighters arrived and immediately launched a rescue operation. The plan was to use a tarp to lift her out, but she panicked and resisted.
Another firefighter joined the effort, and together they found a safer route. At last, the dog was brought up to safety.
They named her Milagros—“Miracles”—a fitting name for a dog who had survived such a terrible fall.
She was cold, shaking, and clearly in immense pain. Her femur had been crushed, and her condition was critical.
But even in pain, she looked at her rescuers with eyes full of hope.
At the hospital, the odds were against her. Surgery was risky, and her injuries were severe. But Milagros fought through it all.
With care, patience, and the dedication of a medical team that refused to give up, she slowly began to recover.
She eventually lost a leg, but not her spirit. With three legs and a heart full of courage, Milagros embraced her new life.
Her journey from abandonment to recovery is more than a rescue story—it’s a powerful reminder of how far love, resilience, and compassion can carry us.
