Stray dogs face numerous challenges daily, constantly searching for food and a safe place to rest. Some, unfortunately, find themselves in situations that make them afraid to accept help from humans.
Such was the case for a stray dog in Pennsylvania who found herself in a precarious situation after getting her head stuck in a cheese ball container. Frightened and unable to remove the bucket, she grew weaker without food or water.

Would help arrive in time to save her?
The pup, later named Dallas, wandered desperately as she tried to free herself. Concerned residents noticed her plight and reached out to Canine Rescue of Central PA (CRCPA) on August 17, 2025, fearing for her safety due to her inability to eat, drink, or breathe properly.
Beth Miller, a CRCPA volunteer, explained the urgent situation to NBC affiliate WGAL: “The container was lodged about a quarter of the way down her neck. She tried to remove it but couldn’t, preventing her from getting food and water, and we were worried about her getting proper oxygen.”

Volunteers from CRCPA and their partners at FIND TOBY in PA banded together to help Dallas. Although they located her, she was too scared to let them near and dashed into a cornfield.
Fearing the worst, the rescue center turned to social media on August 19, urging the community to report sightings of Dallas. A fresh group of volunteers, including Bill Fisher of Drone Deployment Services, LLC, and Dallas Fuhrman of Nighthawk Drone Services, joined the search.
Their persistence paid off early in the morning of August 20 when Fuhrman spotted Dallas with his drone deep in a cornfield. CRCPA shared on Facebook, “At 3 a.m., Dallas was found disoriented, exhausted, and still grappling with the jar.”

As a nod to her ordeal and her rescuer, they affectionately gave her the middle name Cheddar. Volunteers gently comforted Dallas as they escorted her out of the field, removed the container, and took her to Shores Veterinary Emergency Center.
There, she received a thorough checkup and treatment for a tick infestation. Despite her harrowing experience, Dallas was affectionate and cuddled with her rescuers.
To ensure her health, she was placed in a foster home where she receives small, frequent meals to prevent any medical complications. Her foster mom welcomed her warmly, providing the love and care she needs. Dallas is now on the road to recovery.

For now, the rescue center is focused on locating her family, so she is not yet up for adoption. They continue to update her story on their Facebook page.
The rescue team expressed deep gratitude to everyone involved in Dallas’s rescue and search efforts. Thanks to the community’s dedication, Dallas has a new lease on life, and everyone hopes she finds happiness and a loving home soon.
