Yishuang is the fifth elephant born at the park’s breeding center, located in a 900-acre valley that houses hundreds of elephants.

In the 16-second video, Yishuang is seen kneeling on the wet hillside before sliding all the way down to the bottom, thoroughly enjoying the moment. The footage was taken while staff were conducting field training with the calf.

A park spokesperson shared that Yishuang was born on December 22, 2017, and is thriving at the breeding center. They described Yishuang as being like a mischievous preschooler.

China introduced a wild elephant protection law in 1992 to combat the trafficking and hunting of these animals.

Typically, elephants live between 60 to 70 years. Newborn calves weigh between 560 and 840 pounds, and within a year, they can grow to over 1,400 pounds.
