A tourist’s playful moment with a baby elephant in Thailand quickly became a memorable, muddy experience.
Hannah Frenchick, from West Virginia, was visiting the Patara Elephant Farm in Chiang Mai last October when she encountered a particularly spirited young elephant.

While exploring the farm, Ms. Frenchick found herself in an adorable mud-covered wrestling match with the baby elephant, who couldn’t resist playing with her.
Reflecting on the encounter, she described it as one of the happiest moments of her life, saying, “It was truly magical and life-changing.”

A video from the day shows Ms. Frenchick sitting in the mud, dressed in a bright purple poncho. As she gently pats the baby elephant’s trunk, the playful calf suddenly headbutts her, knocking her over into the mud. Bursting into laughter, she finds herself on the ground, completely covered.
The elephant calf doesn’t stop there—climbing over her and keeping her pinned under its legs. Despite the chaos, Ms. Frenchick laughs, patting the elephant’s head as it rolls around happily beside her.
The calf eventually stumbles and slips in the mud, adding to the playful atmosphere of the moment.

This heartwarming encounter highlights the joy and fun of interacting with these gentle giants in a responsible setting.
