For Bowie’s new owner, Ginna Dufftt from Michigan, what was advertised as a Corgi soon revealed itself to be a charming enigma.
Initially, Bowie fit the Corgi stereotype with his short legs and amusing face, yet his thirty-pound frame and laid-back demeanor told a different story.
Curious about their unusual pup, Dufftt and her family decided to conduct a DNA test to unveil what breeds lay beneath Bowie’s quirky appearance.
Adopted from Bottle Babies Rescue, Bowie came into their lives with the label of a four-month-old Corgi. His short limbs and solid build were fitting, but his floppy ears and serious expression weren’t what they expected.
“Our handsome new family member comes from a local foster rescue. We were told he’s a four-month-old Corgi, but at 30 pounds and without any puppy energy, he’s the goofiest mix we’ve seen.
What breeds do you think are mixed in there?” Ginna pondered on Facebook.
Although Bowie seamlessly integrated into family life, the mystery of his lineage lingered. A DNA test offered the best chance to decipher their distinctive dog’s heritage.
Despite being initially named Mr. Pants, this lovable dog now fully embraces the moniker Mr. Bowie Pants, a name that perfectly matches his personality.
Bowie’s Instagram account captures his adjustment to his new home, where he enjoys lounging, family time, and showing off his calm, gentle temperament.
In a post, the family revealed a surprise discovery—Bowie is older than initially thought. “The rescue estimated Bowie was around 4 months old, but his first vet visit suggested he’s closer to 8 or 9 months,” they revealed.
Regardless of the uncertainties about his breed and age, Bowie has proven to be a thriving, lovable companion. Instagram snapshots display him basking in sunshine, exploring the garden, and posing cutely, all embodying his serene personality.
Even if the rescue’s “Corgi” prediction didn’t pan out, Bowie’s uniqueness shines through. No matter the DNA test results, his delightful nature remains unchanged. He’s not only charmed his family but is rapidly gaining an online fan base as well.
