In a joyful milestone at Yorkshire Wildlife Park, Amur tiger cubs Hector, Harley, and their sister Hope celebrated their first birthday surrounded by family and park staff in Doncaster.
The birth of these rare cubs brings renewed optimism for Amur tigers, a species struggling due to poaching and habitat loss.

During the birthday celebration in the park’s Land of the Tiger zone, the playful cubs tore into gift boxes filled with special meat treats while their mother, Tschuna, observed nearby. Meanwhile, their father, Vladimir, showed little interest in relaxing in a neighboring reserve.
Kim Wilkins, the park’s carnivore team leader, shared her delight at seeing the cubs thrive. She emphasized the cubs’ role in the international breeding program, vital for preserving this majestic species.

Currently, only about 450 Amur tigers remain in their native habitat in Russia, making conservation efforts more urgent than ever.
The Yorkshire Wildlife Park Foundation actively raises funds to support conservation projects for Amur tigers and leopards in the wild, working toward a safer future for these endangered animals.
