The heartbreak of losing a cherished dog can leave a lasting void. For those who have experienced this kind of loss, the pain is profound, with some people finding it difficult to ever get over it.

While some decide they can never endure such heartache again, others choose a different route. They open their hearts to dogs in need, channeling their grief into giving these animals a new lease on life.

With a determined spirit, Whitney searched through the euthanasia list, hoping to rescue a dog in dire need. That’s when she found Glinda, a sweet dog whose soulful eyes bore a striking resemblance to her late pup, Luna.

Immediately, Whitney felt a connection with Glinda.

She visited the shelter in Texas to meet Glinda in person. Despite the dog’s initial hesitance, it wasn’t long before her defenses dropped, and she greeted Whitney warmly.

Their bond was instantaneous with Glinda’s initial apprehension melting into trust and affection.

Whitney observed that Glinda, due to overbreeding, needed medical attention before she could leave the shelter.

Thanks to Whitney’s care, Glinda received the medical treatment she required. Once her health was addressed, she was ready to start life in her foster home.

Upon entering her new surroundings, Glinda radiated joy—she wagged her tail, her eyes shone with curiosity, and she injected her new home with energy.

Whitney did everything possible to make Glinda feel safe and loved, helping her heal and grow strong enough for eventual adoption.

Under Whitney’s care, Glinda thrived. She became a happy and playful pup, embracing life the way every dog should.

Glinda’s recovery was quick and heartening. With her health restored, she was listed for adoption and now waits patiently for her forever family.

While her perfect match hasn’t appeared just yet, Glinda is surrounded by the affection of the shelter staff and Whitney.

Whitney shared, “I met a dog on the euthanasia list this weekend that reminded me of my heart dog, Luna. Luna was my inspiration to start rescuing dogs over a dozen years ago. Meet Glinda, a mama dog on the list due to lack of space and health issues from overbreeding. With her medium size, gray muzzle, shy demeanor, and black fur with brown speckles, I knew she belonged with me. After necessary surgery, she’s recovering well. Her excitement is clear when she tinkled near me. Her journey is for Luna. Follow @whitneysdogs for more stories of foster glow-ups!”
