Two wild elephants in Rayong, Thailand, were caught on camera demonstrating impressive teamwork as they worked together to escape a muddy ditch.
The duo, trapped in a dried-out pond, quickly realized they couldn’t climb independently and decided to cooperate to free themselves.

The larger male elephant attempted to climb first, placing his front legs on the grassy edge above.
His female companion positioned herself behind him and gave him a supportive push, trying to help him over the slippery slope. Despite their efforts, the male slid back down, and their initial attempts were unsuccessful.

This heartwarming scene was captured on February 27 by local observer Tanat Pitiporntapin, who watched the elephants for nearly an hour.
The male struggled repeatedly, adjusting his body and trying different techniques, but kept sliding back into the ditch.
Finally, after multiple attempts, he gained enough footing to push himself up and place his front legs on solid ground.

As the male elephant slowly climbed out, his companion stayed close, positioning herself below him and providing much-needed support. After several tries, the male successfully pulled himself over the ridge.
The female followed his lead, using the same technique to climb out of the ditch. Once she was close enough, the male helped her with his trunk, allowing both elephants to go safely.
Their teamwork amazed Pitiporntapin, who frequently sees the elephants playing in the garden.

“They seemed to be communicating, almost as if they were telling each other the best way to climb out,” he said, highlighting the remarkable bond and cooperation between the two animals.
