In a desolate and seldom-traveled location, a tiny puppy found herself in a dire situation, abandoned and frightened. Unsure of where to turn after being left by her owner, the little pup chose to stay put, hoping someone would find her.
When I first encountered the puppy, her eyes were a mix of hope and fear, rendering her almost frozen with anxiety. She appeared malnourished, with visible signs of skin damage, making her future seem grim without urgent help.
Thankfully, a mountain biker stumbled upon the puppy and contacted me for assistance. Just three hours later, we brought the terrified young dog to the veterinarian.

The examination revealed several health issues: rough, scaly skin, swollen, sore eyes, and an infestation of ticks. It was clear she had been neglected for quite some time.
Medication was administered to ease her discomfort, and soon, the relentless itchiness began to subside. Despite her wrinkled appearance, the puppy was only three months old, highlighting the neglect she had suffered early in life.
We couldn’t help but wonder if her mother was out there, missing her, as mother dogs are known to keep their pups close by.
Although the path to recovery seemed daunting, within days, the puppy’s spirits started to lift. She grew curious about her surroundings and gradually overcame her fear.

Yet, she constantly sought reassurance, never wandering far without first ensuring I was nearby, having become her new source of comfort.
As time passed, she gained the confidence to explore more freely. One memorable day, she spotted me from afar and dashed towards me, recognizing me as her guardian. It was a calm and beautiful day that we shared together.
For this little pup, affection and care were unfamiliar but essential ingredients in her recovery journey. We named her Amber. As weeks went by, Amber’s skin condition improved, and she received the proper nutrition she so desperately needed.
However, another challenge soon surfaced—Amber suddenly couldn’t walk and was in severe pain. After undergoing tests and X-rays, the diagnosis revealed she had gastritis.
Fortunately, with the right treatment, the veterinarians managed to stabilize her, easing her discomfort and setting her back on the path to recovery.
