A small French Bulldog, later named Goober, was heartbreakingly abandoned in a crate in a parking lot, unable to do anything but wait for someone to help him. Goober had a painful wound on his back and urgently needed attention.
Fate intervened when Angela Adan, the founder of the non-profit Deserving Dogs in California, happened upon the parking lot. Her heart went out to the sorrowful dog trapped inside the crate. As Adan approached, Goober looked up at her with pleading eyes, hoping for a bit of kindness.
Adan immediately recognized that Goober had been abandoned without hope of return. “Someone just shoved him in there and left quickly,” she explained to The Dodo. She quickly took action, opening the crate and gently leashing Goober, who sensed her good intentions and cooperated without resistance.
Adan drove Goober to a veterinary clinic, where it became clear that his wound had worsened due to neglect. Unfortunately, the person who abandoned him avoided any cameras in the area, and Goober’s microchip was unregistered, offering no clues to his past.
Focusing on healing, Adan took Goober home, determined to nurse him back to health. Initially, the pup’s skin was sensitive, making him wary of touch. However, with excellent care and patience, Goober began to heal both physically and emotionally. “It took months, but finally he started to heal,” Adan shared.
Over time, Goober’s fur grew back, and he began to trust and show his loving nature, revealing the wonderful personality underneath. Adan was shocked that anyone could abandon such a gentle soul. “He’s such an amazing little dog, and I can’t believe someone would let him get into that condition and then just leave him outside like that,” she expressed on Instagram.
Once Goober was fully healthy, he set out to fulfill his biggest dream—finding a loving family of his own. His wish came true when a loving family adopted him, promising to give him the happiness he deserved. Now, Goober is surrounded by the love and care he once craved, embarking on a joyful new chapter in his life.
