When thinking of lions, many envision these majestic creatures as fierce hunters or imagine their powerful roars echoing through the jungle. But what if I told you about a lion who simply couldn’t part with his beloved blanket?

Lambert, a lion with a unique attachment, began life under unusual circumstances. Originally purchased illegally as a cub by a family in Texas, Lambert soon outgrew their care.

Unable to properly care for the growing lion, the family donated him to In-Sync Exotics, a sanctuary dedicated to rescuing exotic cats.

Vicky Keahey, founder of In-Sync Exotics, observed Lambert’s unusual response to rain. Unlike other lions or tigers, Lambert seemed particularly anxious during storms.

Vicky provided Lambert with a fresh blanket to comfort him, and the lion’s distress immediately subsided. Since that moment, Lambert’s attachment to his blanket has been constant.

Lambert enjoys 7,000 square feet of space at the sanctuary, including a grassy playground, pool, and a covered den for shelter and shade.

Despite growing into a large and powerful lion, Lambert’s blanket remains a source of comfort, especially during times of stress.

Every evening, Lambert follows a cherished routine. He returns from his playground and relaxes on a fresh blanket laid out for him, often rolling around and folding it over. Lambert’s playful nature extends beyond his blanket.

He has been known to use various props as toys and was even seen attempting to ride a skateboard within his enclosure.

In addition to his blanket, Lambert’s diet consists of meat, baby food, and a bottle of formula. While some may question whether sanctuary animals like Lambert should be released into the wild, the reality is that many have been de-fanged or declawed by previous owners, making survival impossible.

The sanctuary’s mission is to provide these animals with the best possible care and raise awareness about protecting big cats.
