In today’s world, it’s unfortunate that many pets still endure neglect and cruelty. This was exemplified by a dog in Mexico City who was often left chained outside his home, exposed to harsh weather without care.
A poignant video captured the dog’s struggle during a violent hailstorm. In the footage, the dog curls up in a desperate effort to shield himself from the cold, while his owners appeared indifferent to his plight.
Motivated by concern, a neighbor recorded the scene and shared it on Twitter, aiming to prompt action from the authorities.
The video quickly drew attention, and Letty Varela, an official from the Animal Control Brigade, responded publicly. She confirmed on Twitter that her team had intervened successfully.
“Officers from Mexico City’s Secretariat of Citizen Security’s Animal Control Brigade acted swiftly,” Varela reported. “The dog has been rescued from those dreadful conditions and is now under the care of our veterinarians. It’s time to end animal cruelty.”
Varela later rejoiced in the dog’s recovery, expressing appreciation for her colleagues’ efforts. “It’s wonderful to see this dog now calm, loved, and happy. Thanks to our team’s dedication, his future is much brighter,” she shared in a follow-up post.
This once-neglected dog now has a fresh start and the hope of a happier life ahead.
