Rene, a lovable pit bull, owes his safe haven to a compassionate 12-year-old named Andres.
Faced with a tough decision, Andres chose to part with his dearest friend, Rene, not out of desire, but necessity. Assisted by his mother, Andres carefully placed Rene in a cardboard box and left him outside a local animal rescue center.
Initially, it might have appeared that Rene had been abandoned. However, the truth behind this decision revealed a heartfelt story.
When the rescue team discovered Rene, their initial confusion was dispelled upon finding a handwritten letter left nearby.
The message, touching and sincere, moved everyone to tears.
In his note, Andres explained: “My mom and I decided to leave my dog in your hands, hiding it from my dad because he is thinking about selling him. But he mistreats and kicks him. One day he kicked him so hard that he hurt his tail. I hope you can help and take care of him.”
The letter revealed Andres’ father intended to sell Rene and had mistreated him, causing injury to his tail. Determined to protect his canine companion from further harm, Andres bravely chose to hide Rene and deliver him to a safer environment.
Alongside the letter, Andres left Rene’s cherished teddy bear, ensuring the pup wouldn’t feel abandoned despite their separation.
Once Rene was inside the shelter, the staff conducted a thorough health check. The examination confirmed that Rene had indeed suffered a tail injury consistent with the mistreatment described in Andres’ letter. Despite these challenges, Rene retained his joyful spirit.
Andres’ courageous action has provided Rene with a chance for recovery. Now in the care of a foster home with other dogs, Rene is thriving. According to the staff, he is a loving, gentle, and playful dog who appreciates human companionship. Although he prefers the company of larger dogs and adults, he is generally friendly once acquainted.
Once Rene heals completely, he will be ready for adoption into a forever home. This home will offer the love and safety he deserves, reminiscent of the affection Andres already showed.
Thanks to the young boy’s selfless decision, Rene now has the opportunity for a brighter, love-filled future. When Rene eventually finds his permanent family, he will carry the memory of the boy who loved him so deeply that he chose to let him go.
