Carmi’s journey began under the most tragic of circumstances. She had been discarded at a garbage dump, her body marred by burns and bruises from the toxic environment surrounding her.
Abandoned and expecting puppies, Carmi struggled to find food and sought refuge in the trash, clinging to life for the sake of her unborn litter.
When rescuers discovered her, they found more than a dog in distress—they saw a mother desperately trying to protect her soon-to-be-born pups.
According to one team member, “Her tail didn’t stop wagging as if she was pleading, ‘Help my babies, please.’”
Carmi was quickly taken to a veterinary clinic, where tests revealed the extent of her injuries. She was anemic, had a blood infection, and her kidney function was compromised, likely due to exposure to toxic substances.
Yet, hope lingered—Carmi had tested negative for distemper and was determined to endure.
In an unexpected turn of events, just ten days later, Carmi gave birth to four robust puppies. All of them defied the odds and eventually found loving families to call their own.
Regarding Carmi’s recovery, it has been nothing short of miraculous.
With the right medical care, good nutrition, and continuous affection, she’s been gaining weight, her fur is growing back, and she is transforming into the beautiful dog she was destined to be.
Once neglected and abused, Carmi is now surrounded by love. Her past filled with pain and fear is behind her. Today, her tail wags with happiness as she embraces a new life filled with warmth, security, and joy.
