Nina, a dog rescued from a case of neglect, faced significant health challenges when she was brought to a shelter. Attached to her abdomen was a massive 13-pound tumor, along with two smaller growths on her left mammary chain.

When she arrived, Nina was in a precarious state. She was underweight, had a fever, and was battling a severe skin infection that affected her hindquarters and tail.

Her condition demanded immediate attention and careful preparation for surgery, especially as the risk of the large tumor rupturing grew with each day.

Despite the urgency, the veterinary team approached Nina’s case with patience and precision. They conducted thorough tests and took steps to improve her weight and overall health, ensuring she could safely undergo anesthesia.

Given the potential for significant blood loss and a high risk of complications during the surgery, these precautionary measures were vital.

On December 8th, Nina’s critical surgery took place, and it was a success. Post-surgery, she was placed with a caring medical foster family from Wright Way Rescue, where she was nurtured in a loving environment.

The post-operative biopsy results brought a mix of relief and concern. While the smaller tumors were benign, the larger one was diagnosed as a soft tissue sarcoma.

Encouragingly, all signs now point to Nina being on the road to a full recovery, with hopes that she will soon be adopted into a permanent and loving home.

For now, Nina is surrounded by affection and support, making significant strides towards a promising future.
