Introducing Olivia, a resilient canine with an inspiring story that began on October 7, 2022. On that day, the Dumaguete Animal Sanctuary received a distressing call regarding a dog found in a creek.
She was frail, severely underweight, and in dire need of help.
The sanctuary’s volunteers quickly responded to the report, as the location was not far from their facility.
Upon arrival, they discovered a heartbreaking scene: a female dog, weakened by the trials of recent childbirth, unable to stand or walk and clearly on the brink of starvation.
Named Olivia by her rescuers, she was understandably terrified, even hours after her rescue.
A subsequent medical examination revealed that she tested positive for heartworm and had alarmingly low platelet and red blood cell counts, indicating serious health concerns.
To ensure her wellbeing and confirm she is free of rabies, Olivia has been placed in a 14-day isolation. During this time, she needs all the support and positive thoughts possible for her recovery.
The hope is that Olivia’s story touches many hearts and helps her find a loving family eager to adopt her. Sharing her journey can make a difference and lead to a happy ending for this remarkable dog.
